The company was founded during the Kansei era of the Edo period.
We are dedicated to Kyoto Yuzen, Nishijin weaving and authentic Kyoto kimono.

During the Kansei era (1789-1801), Omi merchant Giemon Okamoto came to Tokyo and established Omiya Giemon as a kimono retailer. Since his store was located on the corner of Manjuji-dori and Takakura-dori (as shown in the photo above), he changed the name to Kakuzen Okamoto.
In 1950, Okazen Co., Ltd. was established in Fuyacho Shijoshita. Later in 1983, a new office building was built facing Oike-dori.
In 1992, the first floor was remodeled into a boutique, and Fabric Okazen was established as a fashion-related department, with the original kimono products being displayed and sold on the second floor. Then, in 2009, the store was remodeled into a store specializing in kimono (Japanese clothing), with the first floor selling fashionable items and Japanese clothing accessories, and the second floor selling formal items, mainly classical items. Every spring, the store designs the costumes for the maiko who perform at the Miyako Odori dance of the Gion Kobu Kabu Kai.
